Cotton farmers in India’s Gujarat state say they feel hopeless, after their crops were damaged by heavy acidic rains that lashed the region.

On Tuesday, cotton crops were found destroyed after being caught in heavy acid rains in Gujarat.

"When we came here, we saw that the cotton plant had been severely burnt. Looking at the extent of the damage at first glance, it appears to be caused by the high acidic content in the rain."

Farmers feel hopeless and they say the soil has become (quote), “useless.”

Meanwhile, officials say that the case is being investigated by a team of experts and farmers could be compensated for their losses.
