Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir state. He discussed peace and development in the region with the provincial parties.

On Tuesday, state leaders and opposition party representatives met the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to discuss peace and development in the region.

They discussed the progress of various developmental projects in the state. The prime minister is on a two-day visit to Srinagar, the state’s capital.

On Monday, Singh repeated an offer to talk with Kashmiri separatists. His offer is seen as an attempt to improve the environment in the territory, crucial to normalize ties with Pakistan.

The Indian leader called on Islamabad to help build a peaceful environment and reiterated his position that their disputes could not be solved as long as Pakistani soil was used to launch attacks on India.

Singh had last reached out to separatists in October, nearly three years after dialogue between them and the government broke down.

The Prime Minister's visit to Kashmir is the second in eight months. He visited Srinagar, last October.
