After weeks of headlines about her marriage troubles, Cheryl Cole finally had something to celebrate. The singer and X Factor judge was named Woman of the Year at the Glamour Awards.

The star, 26, admitted she was filled with nerves as she picked up her trophy at the event in London's Berkeley Square.

"It was an honour but absolutely terrifying. I don't think I've ever felt so scared," said Cheryl.

It comes just two weeks after she filed for divorce from husband Ashley Cole. But she now hopes happier times are ahead and is looking to the future.

"The highlight of the year has been this and this is going to kick off the next year," Cheryl added.

Other big names who attended the annual magazine's prize giving included Billie Piper who picked up the award for UK TV Actress.

Christine Bleakley was voted Glamour's Presenter of the Year, while US star Nicole Richie accepted the award for Entrepreneur of the Year.
