Chris Evans now pulls in the biggest ever radio audience of nine-and-a-half million with his Radio 2 breakfast show.

The 43-year-old presenter took over from Sir Terry Wogan at the beginning of the year after he retired from Wake Up To Wogan after 27 years.

When Sir Terry's replacement was first announced, BBC executives were said to be worried about audience figures dropping. The broadcaster also received complaints from the public, concerned that Chris's style was too loud and manic for breakfast radio.

But new figures from industry body RAJAR, who monitor radio audiences, say Chris's radio show is pulling in around nine-and-a-half million listeners a week compared to Terry Wogan who pulled in an also very impressive eight million a week.

Aside from the success of his radio show, Chris is also making a TV comeback with a Friday night slot on The One Show opposite Christine Bleakley
