In this video, I'll describe the three components that make up a typical Google local search. For example, when typing in a search, such as Dallas plumbers, searchers are looking for a plumber in their local city, Dallas. On that page are three components of local search. At the top of the page and to the right hand side of the page are what we call the pay for click ads. These ads cost the advertisers money as the ads are clicked. In the center of the page, we see a Google map and beside the Google map are stick pins with associated businesses. These are what we call Google local listings. There is no cost involved for having a business listed in these Google local listings. All that's required is understanding what Google wants in the way of relevance for placing these businesses on the first page. Below the Google local maps image are what we call the free organic listings. The organic listings are websites that Google deems relevant for that specific search and, again for these listings, there is no charge for placement here. Google simply lists the websites they deem most valid for that specific search
