The race is on to find a new Labour leader now that Gordon Brown has stepped down.

Harriet Harman's been appointed acting leader until a successor is chosen.

Ms Harman herself has signalled she does not intend to stand in the leadership contest if she can retain her previous position of deputy leader.

Among those expected to run for the job are Ex-Foreign Secretary David Miliband who is the frontrunner. His brother, environment boss Ed is also apparently going to stand.

Former Children's Secretary Ed Balls is the third favourite with the bookies while former Health Secretary Andy Burnham is the fourth main contender expected to throw his hat into the ring.

Left-wing backbench MP Jon Cruddas, who narrowly missed out on being elected deputy leader three years ago, is also considering running.
