The plane crash that killed Poland's President Lech Kaczynski has claimed the lives of dozens of other top state officials and left many key positions empty.
Some three deputy ministers, 18 Parliamentarians, the Governor of the Central Bank, the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the commanders of the air, navy and land forces all perished in the crash.
Poland's Ombudsmen, the head of its Olympic committee and the Director of security were also killed.
The disaster has put acting president, Bronislaw Komorowski, in a delicate situation as he is also the ruling party's candidate for a presidential election, originally due in the autumn and which he must now call for June at the latest.
Earlier the body of Poland's First Lady, Maria Kaczynska, was also identified.
Russian President Vladimir Putin was amongst world leaders who commemorated the 96 victims who lost their lives in the crash.
