In the last Prime Ministers' Questions before the dissolution of Parliament on Monday, the key themes discussed included the economy, Afghanistan and political reform.

The PM warned that spending cuts would threaten vital public services and defended increases to National Insurance.

"We can put National Insurance up and therefore protect our schools, our hospitals and our policing, or we can do what the Conservatives traditionally do and that is put our hospitals, police and our health service at risk".

But Cameron maintained his viewpoint that "the decision to introduce a jobs tax will kill the recovery".

Whilst Cameron and Clegg paid tribute to soldiers killed in Afghanistan, Brown said that facilities for troops has improved with "more helicopters and more helicopter pads" provided.

As the exchanges escalated,Speaker John Bercow was forced to urge MPs to calm down but let Nick Clegg have his say on how the Conservatives and Labour had colluded and blocked political reform. He told both Brown and Cameron that they have failed and it is time to go.
