The online dating industry is going through a major consolidation. Last month IAC/ InteractiveCorp's Match.com acquired Singlesnet; private equity firm Great Hill Partners LLC has made an offer for Spark Networks Inc., the owner of online dating site JDate, BlackSingles.com, and ChristianMingle.com; and more acquisitions are likely on the way. Bigger players such as Match.com and eHarmony Inc. are likely to acquire smaller competitors at fire sale prices, says OkCupid CEO Sam Yagan.
