The new president and chief operating officer of Japan Airlines says the bankrupt carrier has not yet decided whether to stick with partner American Airlines or defect to Delta Air Lines and its SkyTeam group.
[Masaru Onishi, President & COO of Japan Airlines]:
"We are still neutral, not leaning towards either one. Each of the two options has its pluses and minuses. We'd like to discuss this issue thoroughly within the company without any preconceptions."
The Japanese carrier is currently aligned with American Airlines. But rival U.S. carrier Delta Airlines also wants the troubled airline to join them.
The company’s new CEO, Kazuo Inamori, has been working at the airline without any salary since his appointment in January.
