This posting is a little more recent than what I usually upload. The reason of this is the Civil War which basically during several years simply paralyzed cultural life in Spain, a country of which jazz music is hardly known. This is a sad omission. Although jazz was significantly less prominent than in the Anglosaxon world, many great musicians worked in this country. Puertas was a versatile jazz musician (trumpet, piano, violin) and led several combos and bands in the 30's-50's. This brilliant recording was made in 1942.
