The federal government plans to roll out new national medicines record to improve patient safety. The system will require doctors to record all medicines they prescribe to better prevent potential medication abuse. The move was inspired by a Melbourne mother, after her daughter died of an overdose. President of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, Dr Michael Wright says the changes will help prioritise patient safety over profit.
