A horrific mass shooting at an unlicensed bar in the Saulsville township near Pretoria left eleven people dead, including three children aged 3, 12 and 16. Fourteen others were rushed to hospital after three armed men stormed the shebeen at 4:30am and opened fire indiscriminately. Police arrived to find a scene of devastation and have launched a manhunt for the suspects. The attack highlights South Africa’s severe violent-crime crisis, with the country recording over 26,000 homicides in 2024.
