Serenity — Piece Of Mind 1972 (New Zealand, Psychedelic, Folk Rock)

A band from Christchurch, New Zealand, formed in 1971 thanks to the efforts of vocalist and harpist Malcolm Lane. After recruiting two friends, Phil Briggs and Rob Sinclair, they decided to call themselves "Serenity." They liked the name because the band played a superb blend of acoustic and electric progressive folk rock, more typical of the American West Coast scene. In 1972, they signed a contract with Down Under Label. Session musicians were invited to record the album, significantly enriching and diversifying the musical canvas, which consisted entirely of original material. Thus, in 1972, the album "Piece Of Mind" and two singles, "Where Is The Lord"/"Millions" and "Pig"/"Sandelmaker," were recorded and released. But the album, while excellent, went virtually unnoticed. This likely contributed to the band's rapid disappearance from the musical scene. It was later reissued on CD by Kissing Spell.
