A high school intern with the Rhode Island Superior Court was wrongfully detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, causing a judge at the courthouse to personally intervene. The incident occurred on Thursday, Nov. 20, in Providence, per CNN and WPRI 12. It began when the teen, who is currently participating in an internship experience with the court, noticed someone taking photos of him in the courtroom, according to court staffers familiar with the situation, per the outlets. Courthouse security requested that the person stop taking photos, per courthouse rules, at which point the person identified themselves as ICE, according to a staffer, per the outlets.
