Federal agents made nearly 100 arrests in Charlotte, North Carolina, as part of President Donald Trump’s intensified crackdown on illegal immigration, according to the Department of Homeland Security and local reports.

Local officials, including Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles, criticised the operation, saying it created “unnecessary fear and uncertainty” in the community.

Since returning to office, President Trump has deployed federal personnel to multiple cities while promising what he calls “the largest deportation programme” in U.S. history.
