Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic warned that Serbia is “like grass trampled between elephants” as US sanctions targeting Russian energy interests hit the country’s vital oil supplier, NIS. Speaking in Belgrade, Vucic revealed that Washington has refused further postponements, Croatia halted crude deliveries “not even risking a single hour,” and Serbia’s reserves could run out within days. He said Belgrade is now in urgent talks with Russian, Asian and European partners to protect its energy sector and prevent a potential shutdown of the company that supplies over 80% of Serbia’s petroleum needs.
