The worldwide introduction of e-commerce, urbanisation and the need to deliver to customers their goods within the shortest possible distance are contributing to their demand for agile and efficient vehicles and automobiles in India to maneuver among thick lanes of cities and the peri-urban areas. Analytics indicate that intra-city freight movement is more than 60 percent of LCV utilisation in India. Furthermore, the Executive Chairman of Ashok Leyland (the second largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in India), states that the global research demonstrates that the LCVs serving the last-mile logistics are especially suited for electrification and can enhance the economic and environmental performance in emerging economies like Africa Sudan (South) and the Middle East.
