Typhoon Fung-Wong has struck the Philippines, leaving at least two dead while the country continues to recover from Typhoon Kalmaegi's earlier devastation that killed 224 people. The new storm brought sustained winds of 185 km/h and gusts up to 230 km/h, forcing the evacuation of over one million people from vulnerable northeastern provinces. The affected regions include Bicol, a coastal area particularly susceptible to Pacific cyclones and mudflows from the active Mayon Volcano.
