St. Irenaeus was the student of a disciple of St. John the Apostle.  Father quotes St. Irenaeus concerning Our Lady, calling her the New Eve who through her obedience untied the knot that had been bound by Eve.  St. Irenaeus also calls Her the Cause of Salvation for Herself and for all the children of Eve. Ave Maria!
