A powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, shaking the region and triggering immediate tsunami warnings. The quake was so strong that Alaska’s Aleutian Islands were briefly placed under a tsunami advisory, which was later canceled.

Governor Vladimir Solodov confirmed that a tsunami warning was issued locally, but fortunately, no damage has been reported so far. Meanwhile, the U.S. and Canadian coasts, including Hawaii and British Columbia, were declared safe with no tsunami threats.

This seismic activity comes just months after an even stronger 8.8 quake rattled the same region, raising fresh concerns for those living near the Pacific Ring of Fire.
