Thousands gathered outside the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris on Monday to welcome the arrival of celebrities and football stars to the 2025 Ballon d'Or Ceremony, which recognises the best footballers in the world.

Footage shows spectators crowding around the venue, shouting their idols' names as former legends, such as Luis Figo, Andres Iniesta, and Marcel Desailly, walk the red carpet alongside active stars like Lamine Yamal, Virgil van Dijk, and Serhou Guirassy.

Attendees voiced their support for Paris Saint-Germain striker Ousmane Dembele, who enjoyed a memorable campaign with the Parisian club last season.

"He has given ample proof of his talent, he has won the Champions League, he is decisive in every match," noted a fan.

"Dembele has ticked all the boxes to become Ballon d'Or winner, quite simply. He has been decisive against all teams in the Champions League, most English clubs, and Inter Milan, delivering two assists," added another.

Several fans also praised other stars, such as Dembele's PSG teammate Achraf Hakimi or Barcelona's prodigy Lamine Yamal, who had played a formidable role in his domestic treble alongside Barca last season.

Dembele was named the Men's Ballon d'Or winner at the ceremony, while Yamal came second and was followed by Dembele's fellow PSG player Vitinha at third.

In the women's category, Spain's Aitana Bonmati claimed her third consecutive Ballon d'Or, becoming the only woman to win the award three times.

The Ballon d'Or is an annual football award by France Football, honouring the best player of the season since 1956. Initially reserved for European players, it became a global prize in 2007 and is now one of football's most prestigious individual accolades.
