Armageddon - Armageddon 1975 (UK / USA, Heavy Progressive Rock)
At the beginning of winter in 1974 at the former vocalist "Yardbirds" and "Renessaince" Keith Relf (Keith Relf) the idea of creating a new group, because at that moment he was not occupied by any musical project. Keith suggested that old friend Louis Cennamo, who was a member of the team has barely breathing "Steamhammer", go to California and replace native England winter landscape on a sunny. After all, even in the distant 60th in the USA popularity "Yardbirds" was the greatest and they could count on the success of any. But Louis did not want to leave his new musical brother Martin Pugh one, taking it with him. Thus, one third of the legendary British blues-rock band "Steamhamer" and former frontman of no less famous "Yardbirds" to conquer the New World. During the first six months of musicians waited a complete disappointment: statement on the club's network and drummer fruitless search led to the fact that some of them (especially Pugh) began to think about returning home. But with the help of Peter Frampton unfortunate British managed yet to sign a contract with A & M, which gave them, I must say, a bed of roses for the whole year. But advances had to return. In addition, at this time in one of the bars looked Bobby Caldwell and asked only one question: "You do not need a drummer accidentally?" Breakthrough in the career of this great American musician started in the group Johnny Winter. He was lucky to take part in the recording of the now rarities album "Johnny Winter And Live" in 1971. Live concert drive was largely provided precisely Caldwell. The self-titled album "Armageddon", which was released in early 1975, was unexpected even for the musicians themselves. The material was completely hard rock with a slight touch of prog. Album sounded unusually fresh and powerful. It seemed that things went uphill, but the disease maloudachnyh China and promotion of the plate did their job - one of the most promising groups of the mid 70s collapsed. Keith Relf and Louis Cennamo, returning to the UK, together with Jim McCarty began to discuss the possibility of reforming "Renessaince", but the tragic death of China Lightning suspended the process. Bobby Caldwell and Martin Pugh tried to recreate the team with a new singer (played poorly executed Jeff Fenholt), but the loss of interest on the part of the record company interrupted the life of this project. Caldwell returned to the team of his youth "Captain Beyond" to record their third and last album, and Pugh generally disappeared from the music press. Despite the fact that the band recorded only one album, and even held a large-scale tour, "Armageddon" earned its place on the rock - Olympus.
