The operator of a new public-private affordable housing complex in Melbourne has hit residents with a rent increase of 17 per cent less than a year after they moved in. The residents have renegotiated a lower increase after complaining to Consumer Affairs Victoria, but say they are worried they will receive another rent hike next year.
