In Afghanistan, rescue teams continue to search for survivors of the massive 6.0 magnitude earthquake that struck several provinces in the region. According to reports from Afghan authorities, the disaster has killed more than 1,400 people and injured over 3,000, razing villages and trapping residents beneath the rubble of collapsed homes.

The rugged terrain has made rescue and relief operations extremely difficult, forcing responders to deploy helicopters and airlift dozens of commandos to evacuate the injured. This marks the third major earthquake to hit the country since 2021—a tragedy compounded by cuts in international aid, ongoing economic hardship, and the forced return of millions of Afghans from Iran and Pakistan.
