Trump Calls Putin After White House Zelensky Meet, Direct Russia-Ukraine Talks To End War Soon

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met Donald Trump at the White House for high-stakes talks on ending the war with Russia. In the meeting, joined by seven European leaders, Trump pledged US support for security guarantees to Kyiv, while Zelensky said a deal could be finalized within 10 days, including a proposed $90 billion purchase of American weapons. Zelensky also signaled readiness for a trilateral meeting with Vladimir Putin, stressing Ukraine’s commitment to peace "in any format, at the level of leaders." Trump followed up with a 40-minute call to Putin, floating direct talks with Zelensky. Germany later confirmed a potential meeting between Zelensky and Putin within two weeks, although European leaders insisted that a ceasefire must come first. Trump, however, argued peace talks could progress even as fighting continues.
