Over 2,500 Cambodian Buddhist monks march to support lasting peace with Thailand
Over 2,500 Buddhist monks held a peace march on Sunday, August 10, calling for the full respect of a ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand, as well as the release of 18 captured soldiers.
2569 Buddhist monks joined nuns and residents of the city to carry banners and Cambodian flags in a 3 kilometer peace march from Wat Phnom to the Independence Monument in central Phnom Penh.
The peace march stopped shortly at the US embassy as a show of gratitude to US President Donald Trump for initiating the ceasefire agreement. A monk also read a statement supporting the Cambodian leader for nominating him for the Nobel Peace Prize.
