Typhoon Wipha wreaked havoc across Hong Kong and parts of southern China on July 20, 2025, bringing violent winds exceeding 160 km/h, torrential rain, and widespread destruction. The Hong Kong Observatory issued its highest storm warning (Signal 10), prompting the cancellation of over 400 flights and halting public transportation, stranding nearly 80,000 travelers. Streets were flooded, hundreds of trees were uprooted, and scaffolding collapsed in multiple areas, causing significant structural damage. At least 26 people were injured, while nearly 300 residents sought refuge in emergency shelters.
