South Korea's parliament passes revision to rules governing martial law

South Korea’s parliament on Thursday (July 3) approved a revision to rules governing martial law, in response to former president Yoon Suk Yeol’s controversial attempt to invoke it late last year.

The amended rules now prohibit any actions that prevent lawmakers from entering the National Assembly and bar military and police personnel from entering the Assembly without prior approval from the Speaker.
