Taiwan detains Chinese-crewed ship after subsea cable cut

The Taiwan Coast Guard shows its personnel boarding a Chinese-crewed cargo ship after a subsea cable was severed off the island. Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom reported the cable between Penghu, a strategic island group in the sensitive Taiwan Strait, and Taiwan was disconnected early Feb. 25, 2025, according to Taiwan's Ministry of Digital Affairs.
