Tsutomu Yamaguchi is the only person officially recognised to have survived both atomic bombings in Japan. On August 6, 1945, he was in Hiroshima when the first bomb was dropped, sustaining burns and injuries. Remarkably, just three days later, he returned to Nagasaki, where he survived the second bombing. Yamaguchi lived until 2010, exemplifying an extraordinary tale of survival against overwhelming odds.
