Greek farmers settled in with their tractors on the sides of the country’s main highway network, saying they are preparing for a long fight to have their demands met by the government.
Protests that began last week have been growing each day, with hundreds of tractors being parked next to roads around the main national highway in central and northern Greece that links the north and south of the country. Farmers are threatening to block the highway with their tractors, cutting off traffic, and potentially crippling the transport of goods and produce to markets around the country.
