Ludhiana: The people of Bagga Kalan and Chahra villages have set up permanent morchas and are sitting outside the village. The reason for this is the gas factory that is going to be built near the village, the construction of which is going on rapidly. Gas will be manufactured in this factory spread over an area of about 30 acres and to make this gas, gas will be produced in big boilers using sugarcane residue, garbage, cow dung and other waste along with straw. The people of the village are worried about this and are continuously demanding the closure of the factory. The villagers explained how the damage would be. The residents of Bagga Kalan and Chahra villages, while talking to the ETV Bharat team, said that large wells are being built inside the factory to produce gas from water. These wells have a capacity of lakhs of litres of water. The people of the village are worried that if this factory uses such a large amount of water, then the water in the nearby area will become deeper, diseases will spread and they are worried about where they will release all the dirty water, and now that is why they have all come together and put up a strong front against the factory. Factories have been set up in other villages, people are worried The youth of the village said that before this they have submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana many times. Recently, on January 9, they have also submitted a memorandum through organizations. They said that they spend day and night here. They also appeal to the people of the nearby villages to give their support. Every day, groups go to different villages and tell about this factory. They said that before this this factory has been set up in Ghungrala, where the people are living a hellish life. Before this, the people of the village have also stopped the work by opposing such factories in village Barundi, village Mushkabad. They said that this factory is right next to the village. Misled while trying to buy land The villager told ETV Bharat that in 2004, companies bought land from the villagers saying that a big shopping complex or warehouse would be built here, but 20 years later, when work started here, a gas factory started being built. He said that not one but many wells were built. When the villagers came to know about this and visited the villages where factories were already running, they decided after seeing the conditions there that this factory would not be allowed to be built. Big rally on January 19, factory will be locked The villagers said that they have been struggling in this regard for the past four months. They have also been supported by the farmers' organizations and now on January 19 they are going to hold a big gathering. After this, the roads coming to these factories will be locked and the work of the factory will be stopped. If the administration does not take any action, then the villagers themselves have spoken about fighting against it. 'This factory is a danger for the coming generation too' The youth, elders, children and women of the village come and sit on this concrete front day and night and they talked to our team and also took stock of the situation and how this factory is being built right next to the village. The people of the village claim that the toxic material that will be produced from this factory will be left behind, due to which our future generations will fall prey to diseases. They said that already due to the old people, the people of the nearby areas are falling prey to terrible diseases. In such a situation, if this is not stopped, then the people of our village will suffer due to this. Also, the people of the nearby villages and villages will also be affected by this, which is why they are making the people of the villages aware about this.
