A Vital Lesson to Remember

Those who embark on the path of Allah or seek a spiritual guide must first and foremost embrace steadfastness. When searching for Allah, do not abandon the journey due to the inadequacy of a guide or the shortcomings of fellow travelers. This is the primary condition of the path.

If you are in pursuit and, unfortunately, encounter the wrong person, do not lose heart. Even if they are flawed, your direction remains correct. Keep moving forward. Do not say, "I met the wrong person, so I wasted my life and gave up." Do not let this happen.

A story illustrates this beautifully: A wandering dervish once told another dervish, "The one who holds the key to your blessings will come to you. He will be your guide, whoever he may be." The dervish planted a stick into the ground and said, "Here is the sign: When you pour the water from his feet on this stick, it will sprout leaves and flowers. When that happens, you will know he is your guide."

After giving this sign, the wandering dervish left. The man began pouring water on the stick for every passerby he thought might be his guide, but no flowers appeared. One day, a person arrived. As soon as the water touched the stick, it sprouted leaves and flowers. The man exclaimed, "Master, today I have finally found you! After all this time, my desire has been fulfilled. Please share a secret of life with me."

The guide smiled and said, "Yes, I am your guide, but let me tell you the truth. This stick did not sprout because of my feet. It thrived because of the water poured from the feet of every passerby who came here. The honor has been attributed to me, but the effort belongs to all."

The lesson is clear: Maintain your steadfastness. The journey requires persistent effort, not attaching labels or seeking credit. You can write your own name on the wall, but what matters is crossing the field and reaching success.

This is not about names or taking credit; all credits are meaningless here. Once you move beyond the veils of this life, worldly accolades will hold no value. Everything here is fleeting and insignificant—a disconnected story.
When you cross to the other side, distinctions will become clear. Milk will reunite with milk, and water with water.
