Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum on suggested North America including the United States should be renamed "Mexican America" after Donald Trump pledged to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America” which he argues, would have “a beautiful ring.”

“Mexican America” is an historic name used on an early map of the region, and used in the historical Constitution of Apatzingán.
