Hattori Hanzo was a ninja active in Japan from the Sengoku period to the early Edo period, and a military commander who served Tokugawa Ieyasu.
A native of Iga Province (present-day Mie Prefecture), he was skilled in ninjutsu and information warfare, and is said to have saved Ieyasu's life many times.
He is particularly famous for helping Ieyasu escape after the Honnoji Incident.
