If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty and you’re passionate about keeping precious plants free of pests, then you might have what it takes to be a ‘Squishy’ volunteer at the Australian National Botanic Gardens. For nearly two years volunteers have been lending a helping hand to the gardens’ many greenhouses for a few hours once a week. It’s rewarding work— if you’re not too squeamish.
