Shoppers and retailers are in for “a busy day” on Boxing Day despite figures showing a drop in visitors to the high street and major retailers remaining closed on the bank holiday.

Data from MRI Software shows footfall before 10am on high streets across the UK is down 12.3 per cent on last year, while shopping centres have seen a 13.9 per cent drop. Analysis has shown that overall Boxing Day activity levels are down 10.6 per cent across all UK retail destinations at 10am, compared to the same time last year.
