Israeli army tanks and armored vehicles have crossed the border fence and entered the buffer zone which separates occupied Golan Heights from Syria on Sunday.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said seizing this area would help protect Israeli residents after Syrian troops abandoned positions following the overthrowing of Bashar Assad.
