Emergency military personnel assisted in clearing inundated homes and provided medical assistance to residents following severe flooding that killed at least 72 people in southern and eastern Spain.

Authorities reported several people missing late Tuesday, but by the following morning, the shocking announcement came that dozens had been found dead.

Spain has experienced similar autumn storms in recent years, but nothing compared to the devastation over the last two days.
