हेलोवीन प्रत्येक वर्ष 31 अक्टूबर को मनाया जाने वाला एक अवकाश है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि हेलोवीन उत्सव की शुरुआत प्राचीन केल्टिक त्योहार सामहिन से हुई थी, जब लोग भूतों को दूर भगाने के लिए अलाव जलाते थे और वेशभूषा पहनते थे। रिपोर्ट के अनुसार , 8वीं शताब्दी ई. में पोप ग्रेगरी तृतीय ने 1 नवंबर को सभी संतों के सम्मान का दिन घोषित किया था। जल्द ही, ऑल सेंट्स डे में समाहिन की कुछ परंपराएँ शामिल हो गईं।
