Cosplayers take over Paris video games fair as Halloween nears

Alleys at the Paris Games Week video game fair were filled with life-sized video game, manga and comic book characters on Sunday, October 27, as cosplayers flocked to the event.

Just a few days away from Halloween, fans dressed up as their favorite characters and took photos with fellow enthusiasts.

"We started (cosplaying) for Halloween at first," said cosplayer Jerome Magnat, dressed as the main protagonist of a recent Korean video game.

"We bought (costumes), then we started making them, then we switched to cosplay because we thought: 'It's much more fun to be able to do this more often' since Halloween takes place once a year."

Cosplaying is a growing trend in France with increasing numbers of people trying their hand at crafting costumes and role playing characters from various series and games.

Since 2016, cosplayers from all over France have also been competing in the French Cosplay Cup, which awards the best costumes with a prize.
