Vinik Sports Group, led by Jeff Vinik, sells a portion of its stake in the Tampa Bay Lightning to investors Doug Ostrover and Marc Lipschultz. Though the terms were not disclosed, previous reports indicate the NHL team is valued at nearly $2 billion. The NHL’s Board approved this deal of Governors. Vinik will retain control for three more years before transitioning to Ostrover and Lipschultz. Arctos Partners, another Lightning stakeholder, will also reduce its ownership.
