Hurricane Milton is due to make landfall in Florida around 10pm EST on Wednesday, with 5.9 million people in the Tampa area under mandatory evacuation orders.

It is the first time in more than a century that Tampa is expected to be hit directly, and comes two weeks after Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc in Florida.
Storm surges could reach 15ft (4.5m) above ground level, with “catastrophic” flash-flooding, the authorities have warned.
A Category 3 storm has winds between 111 and 129 mph. It was classed as Category 4 until Wednesday around 4pm EST (9pm BST).
The weakening winds, however, have been accompanied by a growing range. Meteorologists say the winds will be felt 200 miles from the centre, and that could expand to 240 miles.
The storm is due to make landfall between 10pm EST on Wednesday and 2am EST on Thursday (3am to 7am BST).
By Wednesday afternoon EST, Milton was located 120 miles southwest of Tampa, generating maximum sustained winds of almost 130 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center.
