An administrative error by Glasgow City Council has halted a planned ban on fireworks in a Southside neighbourhood.
They had intended on introducing a Fireworks Control Zone in the Pollokshields area which has faced the most serious firework-related antisocial behaviour in the past, from the 1 to 10 November covering public and private spaces.
However, the local authorities missed a crucial deadline in the implementation.
A notification should have been issued 60 days before it was due to come into force, but they only submitted it on 9 September, meaning it was too late.
The council have expressed their apologies to the public and said the zone will now be deferred to next year.
The zone is not legally enforceable for 2024.
The Scottish Government gave councils the power to designate these zones in 2022 following a major riot in Dundee.
