Thousands march in London to demand a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon
Fifteen people have now been arrested at the London protest, says the Metropolitan Police. Three for assaulting an emergency worker, one for supporting a proscribed organisation, three for assault, seven for public order offences, of which three were racially aggravated, and one for breach of Public Order Act conditions.
The police said early that conditions had been imposed under the Public Order Act to move a counter-protest group that had strayed too close to the march and from an agreed area in Trafalgar Square. The force also said it is aware of posts showing people with placards supporting Hezbollah and that they are working to locate those involved.
Thousands of pro-Palestine marchers have also gathered outside Downing Street chanting “free, free Palestine” as speakers on a stage at the front of the crowd shouted “shame on this government”.
