The U.S. military has released video footage it says shows a U.S. warship stationed in the Eastern Mediterranean firing a missile defense system on Tuesday (October 01) that it believes successfully shot down Iranian ballistic missiles directed at Israel.

Tehran launched a salvo of at least 180 missiles on Tuesday against Israel in retaliation for the killing of several leaders of Iran-aligned armed groups, and Israel vowed a "painful response" against its enemy.
