A German-made Leopard 2A6 tank that was recently neutralized during Russia’s conflict with Ukraine has been delivered to Russia’s Uralvagonzavod plant for analysis. The tank arrived at the factory with visible damage, including a main gun pierced by shrapnel, but is otherwise largely intact. According to an official statement, specialists have begun examining the tank’s systems, assemblies, and components. The study aims to provide a detailed assessment of the vehicle’s military capabilities.
Key areas of interest for Russian engineers include the Leopard 2A6’s fire control system, stabilizer, thermal imager, and upgraded braking system. The main 120mm Rh 120/L55 gun, capable of firing advanced tungsten carbide-tipped projectiles, is also of interest.
