Hurricane Helene has caused what one emergency worker called "biblical" devastation across five southeastern U.S. states. North Carolina experienced torrential rains, flooding, and mudslides. The damage has destroyed towns, closed hundreds of roads, and left more than 300,000 residents without power. Governor Roy Cooper described the storm as catastrophic, and over sixty people are confirmed dead, with one thousand still missing. The storm has caused nearly $100 billion in damage.
