Mirrors and flashing lights at Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama's show in London
Mirrors and colored lights take center stage at avant-garde Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama’s new exhibition.
Opening soon at London gallery, Victoria Miro, Kusama’s installation “EVERYDAY I PRAY FOR LOVE” offers colorful paintings, sculptures of women made of bronze and new 'Infinity Mirrored Room — Beauty Described by a Spherical Heart’ — in which visitors walk amongst flashing lights.
In an outside area is Kusama’s new stainless steel '‘Ladder to Heaven’' which is covered in polka dots, while inside there are 15-metre-long strips of stuffed fabric also covered in dots making up a display called ''Death of Nerves.’'
Kusama, who is well known for her dot-covered art and pumpkin motifs, as well as the use of mirrors to create mystical "Infinity Rooms", is one of the most successful living female artists. Her latest exhibition opens to the public on Wednesday, September 25, and runs until Saturday, November 2, 2024.
